Day 2 of being sick.
My brain is too foggy from this head cold to do calc or bio. Maybe I'll try psych in a bit. Probably not though, I'm bad enough about actually studying when I'm healthy, let alone being sick.
For years now I've been completely fascinated by tv shows such as Lie to Me, The Mentalist, and Elementary (which I know is a rip off of the original sherlock holmes, but I still thoroughly enjoy watching it since it's come on tv). I also watch quite a bit of any of the CSI's, but they aren't really my favourites, I also enjoy criminal minds every now and then. However, I tend to like the ones where they study the human psychology behind the suspect, and the hints that body language can give away to the investigators of whether someone is lying and/or guilty more then the straight up and down cop shows.
My favourite of all of them is especially Lie to Me. They didn't have many seasons but the main character was my favourite person ever. The way he could tell when someone is lying by micro-expressions that most people miss in a normal conversation was just phenomenal. I was never actually sure that that was a real thing people could do, since most tv shows are made up.
However, in psychology the other week we actually spent an entire two classes on it. The class as a whole took an online survey of whether or not someones smile was fake or not. Too bad it wasn't an individual quiz, I would have loved to know what my personal score on it was. Then the next day she showed us another video. This time the test subject was put in a room and was given the choice of whether or not to steal the money. He then came out and told someone that he did not steal it. That was a lie and we were asked to spot the micro-expression that told us he was lying.
I noticed immediately that one corner of his lips pulled up for just a fraction of a second. Not many other people saw it in my class so my teacher had to slow it down and then other people saw it. Some people still couldn't see it though, which makes no sense to me because it was SO obvious!.... at least I thought it was.... I'm thinking I've been watching waaaay too many crime shows hahaha Although I do wonder if I would have still noticed it if I hadn't been told he was lying in the first place. The back history bias is so annoying in that way.
Anywaysss...yah, that's my overly in depth look on that subject haha. Jeez I like to write a lot when I'm bored and sick :p sorry to my mostly non-existent readers! haha
